abstract = {Material deprivation and the risk of poverty, exacerbated by recent unexpected events such as the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, are significant social issues that profoundly affect the lives of numerous individuals. In contrast, social robots represent problem-solving innovations that have the potential to contribute to the achievement of the 17 sustainable development goals established by the United Nations. This paper investigates the association between the adoption of social robots and the risk of poverty, while also establishing the connection between the diffusion of social robots and the proportion of individuals experiencing material deprivation. The study involves a sample of 28 European countries and utilizes statistical analysis of data collected from 2018 to 2021.By taking into account variables such as average income and the unemployment rate, our findings indicate a negative association between the utilization of social robots and both the risk of poverty and the proportion of individuals living in material deprivation. Therefore, our research offers theoretical and managerial implications, serving as a basis for policymakers and managers to make informed decisions aimed at improving the standard of living for the most marginalized individuals.},

The use of a mobile recycling application is evaluated with regard to its media richness with a sample of 12 539 users in Italy. The research is developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when users have become more environmentally conscious and aware of plastic pollution. This time period has also seen an increase in the use of mobile applications, which provide social engagement and other benefits. Although it has encouraged new research on recycling behavior and how environmental messages are spread, as far as we know, no research has included a specific technology, such as mobile applications. Through the lens of consumer social media engagement behavior, it has emerged that media richness has a positive correlation with user engagement and recycling behavior. Theoretically, the research offers a novel technological tool worthy of further exploration in the fields of management and engineering. New practical insights are offered in terms of best practices for strengthening the relationships between companies and their clients. As users become more accustomed to social technologies, those technologies may help to establish responsible consumption patterns.},

abstract = {The ongoing dynamic market evolution has reshaped the way companies can create value, thanks to new funding models and new market opportunities, especially in the early business stages. In particular, with the growing development of crowdfunding models, scholars and practitioners are questioning how backers can cocreate value by funding new entrepreneurial initiatives through digital platforms dedicated to this new form of financial support. Therefore, positioning this article in the knowledge and engineering management literature, the current research explores whether two subdimensions of value cocreation (VCC), knowledge sharing and interaction, may help to understand backers' intention to participate in a reward-based crowdfunding (RBCF) campaign. In particular, using the partial least square structural equation modeling approach on an original sample of 3574 backers, in this article, we find that knowledge sharing, understood as backers' expertise as well as the preparedness of the proponent team, and the interaction between the campaign actors contribute to explaining backers' participation in an RBCF initiative. The research supports the relevance of backers' engagement in terms of VCC as an experiential benefit for the success of an RBCF initiative. From this perspective, our study suggests that both entrepreneurs and platforms should consider VCC in the design and setting of RBCF campaigns.},

abstract = {Purpose
Environmental knowledge management (EKM) has been studied mainly owing to the increasing awareness of environmental issues. Such issues have generated a warning in the tourism industry that has stimulated a new wave of research on EKM. EKM forges landscape characteristics and so destination image. In turn, EKM sounds affecting tourism destination which calls for destination personality which shows a research context less explored. From a knowledge management perspective, The present research aims to investigate on EKM to understand how it leverages tourists' and destination personality.
Design/methodology/approach
With the intent of exploring EKM, the research uses a quantitative analysis on a sample of 2,222 young Chinese tourists. In this context, EKM is linked with destination's personality and tourists' personalities, their satisfaction with the destination and their behavioral intentions.
Findings
By SPSS regression model, EKM and destination personality are positively linked. This positive relationship is also reflected on destination personality and destination satisfaction, behavioral intention.
Originality/value
The authors' original contribution to the knowledge management literature extends the new wave of research on EKM. The research also proves the need to make a close collaboration between tourists, the local community and marketers. Marketers need to pay more attention to what tourists want to do and see in the place visited. In a nutshell, there is the need of enforcing and promoting EKM.

Besides, those two DCs also assume a mediator role in triggering organizational creativity within SMEs. In terms of theoretical and managerial implications, threefold contributions are provided: the first one offers a fresh study on the digital transformation context of SMEs through a microfoundation perspective; the second emphasizes the crucial role of CDOs as supported and remarked upon previous studies; and, then, the third one stresses out the importance of the individual leverage to generate creativity by the moderating role of DCs. This study examines the real impact of the paper on KM and technological innovation in family small to medium enterprises (FSMEs). This is a unique context affected by psychological and emotional ownership. However, COVID-19 has forced FSMEs to consider new strategies and practices to preserve their competitive advantage.
Findings
In this scenario, knowledge exchange, knowledge absorption and technology adoption appear relevant to the innovation process. This study offers a framework for how the duality of KM and technological innovation affects innovation.
Originality/value
Although extant research has explored technological innovation outcomes, a literature review reveals that accumulated studies on the drivers of technological innovation and KM in the context of FSMEs require further inquiry. abstract = {Innovation is key to the economic performance of firms. However, several types of risks and uncertainties often lead to high failure rates in innovation projects, to the extent that failure is now considered a typical step in an innovation process. If innovation failure was provoking stress in the past, the current socio-economic contexts makes if it something to regularly deal with and learning from. However, there still is a dilemma on whether innovation failure should be considered as an opportunity or a trauma for the firm. Exploring the three steps of an innovation failure, that is identifying, analyzing and experimenting, the present research offers new insights on the nature of innovation failure at an individual and team levels. In particular, via an inductive approach this study provides fours key approaches to understanding innovation failure. First, we have uncovered a wide range of approaches to organizational management and ?Spaghetti' organizational models of innovation that perceive failure as an opportunity for the innovation process. Secondly, our study identified what seems to be a widespread perception of innovation failure as a trauma, which encourages the culture of openness to failure and to share knowledge of failing innovations. Such views apply not only at organizational but also at individual and team levels. Third, our results serve to encourage individuals, teams and organizations to find new ways to learn from failures in innovation projects, and to have a less centralized management and control over innovation. Fourth, in our perception of the domain, failure could become the ?new normal' and a mean to generate new knowledge. This stimulates new directions in the decision-making process, towards novel pathways to innovation.},

abstract = {Purpose
A paucity of studies has used a microfoundation lens to examine servitization processes in internationalized knowledge-intensive business service (KIBS) companies. The research aims to bridge this gap by considering knowledge sharing as a form of both codified knowledge and informal feedback knowledge; it also assesses whether the adoption of knowledge transfer and translation practices in a servitization process positively moderates the effect of knowledge transformation on knowledge sharing for internationalized KIBS companies.
Design/methodology/approach
By adopting a microfoundation lens, the research offers an empirical analysis to identify the relations between codified and tacit knowledge in servitization processes within internationalized KIBS companies. The study is based on 326 respondents from 30 KIBS companies. A multiple regression analysis was used for hypotheses testing.
Findings
The authors found significant relations among the use of electronic documents in the servitization process (formal codified knowledge), personal advice in servitization (informal feedback knowledge) and knowledge sharing in internationalized KIBS companies. Findings also support the indirect effect assumed in the hypothesis between knowledge transformation and knowledge sharing in internationalized KIBS companies, which is positively moderated by the adoption of cross-cultural knowledge practices in the servitization process.

All businesses are finding it difficult to figure out how to enhance the environment and society. Following the co-generation of social, ethical, and corporate aims, new sustainable inventions have evolved since the COVID-19 pandemic event, similar to new solutions into a workable, viable, and ethical business. The positive and negative aspects of inventions are a topic of discussion among innovation management academics. In particular, how innovation may be more sustainable even when job inequities caused by automation have sparked a feeling of the importance of upholding human rights. Despite that, the innovation management literature is still far from being pedantic in studying automation and human rights towards sustainable innovations in the context of international new ventures (INVs). The article challenges a pessimistic view of innovations by examining automation and human rights for 3000 INVs through the perspective of the micro-foundations. Multiple linear regression analysis is used to evaluate hypotheses, demonstrating how social entrepreneurship can play a constructive mediating role in upholding human rights and promoting automation. This demonstrates the necessity for additional research on a business's individual level to create social breakthroughs. The study encourages policymakers and the government to support sustainable innovations by utilizing technology to boost job quality, uphold human rights, and foster global entrepreneurship.},

abstract = {The present article investigates entrepreneurial sustainable innovations (ESIs) that work against the five elements (policy, finance, human capital, support and culture) of the entrepreneurial ecosystem (EE) model (Isenberg, 2011). By conducting empirical research on 14 European countries, the study addresses how an EE can support entrepreneurs in creating sustainable innovations. Overall, the study contributes to exploring the relations between the EE and the relevant classes of ESIs, providing entrepreneurs and policymakers a framework by using a holistic examination of the EE and contributing to more effective policy solutions to encourage sustainable and resilient entrepreneurship-led economic growth. As shown by a quantitative analysis, ESIs are positively correlated with policy, finance and support in terms of infrastructural and administrative support, whereas culture and human capital do not significantly influence ESIs. The results also highlight that the EE's key factors have different impacts on ESIs over time because the effect of EEs can be considered a complex system because of its heterogeneous and dynamic nature. In addition, the country-level capability of ESIs are measured, showing that Ukraine, Romania, Poland and the Czech Republic demonstrate a low-level capability of ESIs, while Germany, the UK, Sweden, Netherlands, France and Belgium show a high-level capability. By contributing to the entrepreneurial literature, the research invokes sustainable mechanisms of innovation to boost national economic performance in European countries.},

abstract = {This article originally seeks to explore the impact of R&D investments and societal culture on green technology management, by applying Hofstede's cross-cultural perspective. At large, we investigate if green innovation is positively associated to country cultural indulgence, as this factor indicates that basic needs are already satisfied and there is room for looking into hierarchically higher concerns. We also argue that governments' expenditures in green innovation tend to be more effective than those of firms, because governments are more willing to invest and risk in radical innovations than businesses. The analysis is conducted on a large-scale sample of data drawn from Eurostat, including information onR&Dexpenditures and on eco-innovation index from European firms and governments. The results confirm our model hypotheses: governments' investments largely predict eco-innovation, differently from firms' expenditures. Moreover, as supposed, country's cultural indulgence has a positive effect on the eco-innovation index as well.},

The intent is to suggest individual actions to overcome the gig economy issues based on limitless earnings, insecure work, and low quality of entrepreneurial activities. The paper originally contributes to the knowledge management and entrepreneurial literature and is partly consistent with the results on the extending knowledge-based perspective for a digital CSE. As a result, the main knowledge used for the development of the firm comes from the personal life of the actors involved in the project mostly. New research avenues are suggested: 1) the real bottom-up strategizing process for CSE; 2) the managerial level actions to induce entrepreneurial initiatives within a CSE; 3) the gendered aspect of CSE embedded in the new digital, social expanded KBV framework.},

abstract = {The increasing presence of humanoid robot adoption has generated a change in explorative and exploitative routines. If the explorative routines provoke creativity and critical thinking which are delivered by humans, exploitative routines induce repetitive actions and mimic activities which are executed by humanoids. This has raised the need for a better balance between both routines involving an ambidextrous dynamic process. Here, product innovations play a relevant role in enhancing such balance and labour productivity. If, from the conceptual standpoint, this phenomenon has already been explored, there is still the need to empirically analyse it. We thus offer a meso-analysis of twenty-four countries located in Europe through the lens of the Service Robot Deployment (SRD) Model and the conceptual lens of organizational ambidexterity. By a regression methodology, the results show that humanoid robot adoption is still not affecting labour productivity which, by contrast, is positively and significantly connected with both radically new and marginally modified/unchanged production of innovative routines.
Our original contribution, which falls in the field of Human Resources Management and Artificial Intelligence, is that humanoids are not directly impacting labour productivity but indirectly through the generation of both new and marginally modified (or unchanged) routines. This situation persuades senior leaders to achieve a balance between exploitative and explorative product innovation routines.},

abstract = {Digital technologies, data intelligence and analytics are developing significant potential benefits for business transformation. The most prominent digital technologies appear in wearable devices (WDs), i.e., small electronic devices that collect and transmit data. By applying the lens of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the paper offers a new research model, identifying four antecedents (organizational trust, perceived usefulness, hedonic motivations, and privacy) which reflect employees' intentions to use WDs. The model also recognizes an additional mediator variable, namely rewards, which intercedes the direct relationship between organizational trust and the intention to use WDs. In particular, a sample of 523 temporary employees is analyzed by multiple regression analysis which results in a strong relationship between the intention to use and the perceived benefits of using WDs, whereas the perceived risks (i.e., privacy) are negatively associated with the intention to use WDs. Finally, rewards impact positively on results by mediating the connection between organizational trust and the intention to use WDs. The study contributes to extending the literature on digital tools, data intelligence, and analytics within a firm and offers original solutions for business and societal transformation.},

abstract = {Knowledge hiding is widely considered a counter-productive workplace behavior that can hinder the employees' creativity and have a negative impact on performance. Although companies are prone to encourage knowledge sharing practices, employees are inclined to hide their knowledge - tacit and explicit. Often this happens in research and development (R&D) process where team members may distrust each other or intentionally are not hostile in sharing knowledge. The phenomenon of knowledge hiding has increased the interest in researchers who have explored it in different views, there has been little research into the antecedents of knowledge hiding and the social factors that trigger the relate behavior. In this vein, the current study seeks to analyze antecedents and social factors through the lens of the theory of planned behavior as the guiding theory in an in-depth qualitative research. Specifically, knowledge hiders' attitudes, subjective norms and their perceived behavioral control over the knowledge hiding along with the cultural dimensions of 15 international R&D teams are investigated. Although exploratory, the study reveals the fact that cultivating an environment of collaboration and knowledge sharing is beneficial as it removes the organizational foundation of knowledge hiding, which is more likely to result in increased innovation within the whole organization. A comprehensive theoretical framework of knowledge hiding is proposed, and its implications on theory and practice are discussed with the aim of nudging further explorations on the topic.},

Although these labs were originally established by scientists and biologists, they now include civil society, creating a mix and match between experts and non-experts. This group also includes another category of nascent entrepreneurs known as disadvantaged DIYers (DDIYers) who are making the most of these spaces. DDIYers encompass a different range of people such as immigrants, women, and the disabled. The latter calls for a new wave of research focused on DDIYers who are affected by chronic disease; these people motivated the present study that examined a sample of 27 DDIYers who created their own business after being diagnosed with cancer. The following will investigate their motivations. It will be seen that DDIYers are driven by external motivations oriented towards the desire to fulfill unmet needs; existential motivations oriented towards finding meaning in and control over one's life; as well as the aim of having an ideal profession and sharing a common project. With this in mind, policymakers and research institutions are encouraged to facilitate the establishment of DIY labs and the sharing of resources and knowledge.},

Enterprises are becoming more agile, adaptive, and ambidextrous in order to boost innovation in the current digital transformation era. Nowadays, ?digital innovation' is closely associated with Industry 4.0 enablers and smart enterprises. Prior research has shown that while multinational enterprises ? across many sectors ? have already embraced the afore?mentioned advancements, their adoption by small?and?medium?sized enterprises (SMEs) has so far taken place mainly in the manufacturing sector. Thus, based on a sample of 280 self?tuned smart manufacturing SMEs and having utilized the structural equation modelling (SEM), this study was aimed to investigate how digital innovation is influenced by the three pillars of self?tuning models ? agility, adaptation, and ambidexterity. Our article has focussed on the digital systems in which SMEs, spurred by networking and open innovation solutions, operate and innovate in response to external triggers, displaying a balance between exploration and exploitation, and a strong agile capacity.},

abstract = {Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) are often marked by limited resources, a high dependence on others, and a scope of business that gets narrower as they seek to adapt to the current dynamic and knowledge-intensive context. Additionally, in their relationship with multinational enterprises (MNEs), SMEs are driven to a continuous specialization of their knowledge and technological resource bases. They so source global knowledge by positioning along a global value chain of those MNES. Especially SMEs employ a repositioning organizational knowledge dynamics by functional upgrading and downgrading strategy. In order to address the query on dynamic capabilities in knowledge management (KM) in different inter-organizational collaborations in the global value chain, this study shows that the choice between functional upgrading or downgrading can determine a more effective cross-innovation strategy which enables SMEs to exploit external paths to the market by revealing or selling their ideas, knowledge and technologies. Such strategies can reveal opportunities for SMEs to increase their network to find an optimum position in the market. SMEs, in turn, become more specialised in their offerings, moving up or down the global value chain, leveraging on a combination of dynamic and technological capabilities along with high degree of involvement in knowledge management process},

They turn out to be risk taker, autonomous, proactive, competitive, and innovative. In a nutshell, they are entrepreneurial oriented with the aim to generate new innovative ventures, known as research-based spin offs. Doubly, this has induced an improvement of technology transfer and the degree of entrepreneurship in the current knowledge economy. However there still is a paucity of studies on the spill over effect of entrepreneurial orientated universities and research-based spin off on technology transfer need to be more explored. Therefore, the article investigates the link between entrepreneurial orientation and such spill overs by offering an outlook of two universities and two research-based spin offs in the United Kingdom. The scope is to provide a deep view of technological innovativeness in a research context, entrepreneurial oriented. Our research suggests that entrepreneurial attitude has become an imperative to succeed in the context where British institutions currently operate. Entrepreneurship brings the necessary technological innovation to the university and its students, which results in better positioning of the university at national and international levels, with the subsequent impact on their ability to attract not only new students and academics but also funding to conduct their research.},

Paradoxically, little attention has been given to how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) manage sustainable innovation in the current knowledge-intensive context. By studying 80 SMEs from the high-tech manufacturing sector in Italy, this research has found that, when combined with stakeholder engagement, sustainable innovation management becomes a pivotal phenomenon for new and established SMEs. Stakeholders proved instrumental in generating the sense of environmental responsibility in SMEs. As a pioneer combination of stakeholder theory and innovation management theory, our research found that stakeholder-related capabilities, both tangible and intangible, influence the firm's orientation towards sustainable innovation, its environmental responsibility and related capabilities. Our research assists the sustainability, adaptation, innovation and growth orientation of SMEs in a knowledge-intensive environment by recommending that, in their relationship with stakeholders, SMEs become more open to co-create, share and reuse environmental knowledge.},

Guaranteeing organizational efficiency and 2. Exploiting effectively market opportunity. This usually implies the integration of knowledge in technology transfer which can be accrued via the knowledge sharing between parties. However, by looking into the technological and social change literature, previous studies were mainly focused on macro-foundation of technology transfer and organizational innovative capabilities with less consideration to the role of psychological precursors of collaborations. Due to this gap, we intended to build a consistent conceptual basis for collaborations and technology transfer practices at the micro level. The proposed research seeks to capitalise on and critically interrogate such convergence, how it works and the challenges connectivity brings for internal local life and external global markets of small to medium enterprises (SMEs). SMEs have been considered the most innovative oriented businesses in developed countries even in emerging markets acting as pioneer in the digital transformational word. It has been widely recognised that local SMEs can get advantages from multinational enterprises spillover. However, studies on the horizontal technology spillover between SMEs are scarce. In fact, there is a need to explore the effect of horizontal technology spillover on SMEs for international growth. Therefore, the research offers quantitative metrics such as technology upgrading, knowledge spillover, and technology transfer to explore this effect in the Chinese market. Especially, the empirical research is conducted on a sample of 80 SMEs in Beijing from technology - intensive industry. It critically interrogates how digital, social and transformational technologies impacts SMEs' competitiveness to produce points of digital convergence that connect, co-create and drive local to international growth via structural equation modelling.},

abstract = {Purpose Entrepreneurial knowledge spurs innovation and, in turn, generates a competitive advantage. This paper aims to explore if entrepreneurial knowledge combined with the attitude to innovate can overcome the key ?imperfections? of the innovation process generated by dynamic, current technological progress in the knowledge-intensive sector. The ?imperfections? identified in risk management, asymmetric information in the knowledge management process and hold-up problems can all disrupt collaborative partnerships and limit opportunities for innovation. Design/methodology/approach A theory-building approach is applied which offers a case study analysis of two small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These two SMEs operate in Europe but in two different territories: the UK and Italy. The study explores three key imperfections, risk management, asymmetric information in the knowledge management process and hold-up problems, which occur in the innovation process. Findings The entrepreneurs face these imperfections by adopting an open innovation model. Notwithstanding, both entrepreneurs had to deal with all ?imperfections?, and their skills, attributes, attitude and aptitude allowed them to grow their business and continually develop new products. Therefore, the imperfections do not limit the innovative capacity of an entrepreneur but rather enhance their challengeable attitude. In this regard, the case studies induce a further analysis on entrepreneurial knowledge intertwined with entrepreneurial risk management and networking skills},

abstract = {Destructive changes and breakthrough innovations are embraced in the development of Internet of Things (IoTs). These network-connected smart devices or machine-learning algorithms transfer information on consumers to the Internet by small sensors and computing processors. Companies thus track consumers' behaviour and offer personalised products and services. However, consumers are still sceptical in using these devices due to privacy risks and a dearth of awareness about the technologies' perceived value. Therefore, to overcome these barriers, the research seeks to measure the relationships among the elements that affect customers' willingness and decisions to use IoTs-based products. On the basis of motivation theories, two categories of motivational factors are individuated: extrinsic factors such as entertainment and social interaction and intrinsic factors such as information acquisition, privacy risk, and technology readiness level. They are analysed using a sample of 782 early-adopter customers in Italy. The aim is to offer an explorative, quantitative study on the IoTs to enhance the existing knowledge and support business in the process of engaging more users and creating new personalised products. In line with this, the study's implications, limits, and recommendations for further research are presented.},

abstract = {Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a new statistical approach to evaluate complex open innovation projects on a quantitative basis. In certain circumstances, open innovation entails a radical change of policy that involves various different functions of a company such as R&D, production, and management over a period of years and gives rise to mechanisms of mutual interaction with several business partners, such as collaboration with other companies, universities and R&D institutions, and new suppliers. Then, the question arises of how to measure the impact of such complex open innovation processes on the overall performances of companies. Design/methodology/approach A holistic case study is applied to analyze the effect of open innovation projects on a corporate company's stock price dynamics. The scope is to identify two different scenarios pre- and post-adoption of an open innovation model by a multinational company, Fujifilm. In particular, a stochastic model, namely the log-normal model, is applied along with three statistical tests: Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Cramer von Mises, and F-test for equal variances, in order to verify if the adoption of an open innovation model causes any significant change in the stock price dynamics of the corporate company. Findings From the findings emerges evidence that open innovation projects have a moderate effect on Fujifilm's stock price dynamics, but a greater improvement of the perception of Fujifilm's stock value. This enhances the management and financial literature review by offering a novel, empirical perspective on the effect of the adoption of an open innovation model on a corporate company's stock price dynamics. Research limitations/implications This research is limited to a single case study, but it can be extended to other stock market companies and therefore improve on the present study. Originality/value An original application of Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests to detect and measure the differences between the two regimes of pre-open innovation and post-innovation regimes.},

Electronic infrastructure in the service sector are reducing each kind of cost and improving multiply buyer-supplier relationships, facilitating negotiations and transactions. However, since the coordination costs are still high, the use of ICTs is limited. This phenomenon thus attracts the interests of scholars and practitioners. Although it still needs to further investigate. Especially, the optimal use of ICTs within SMEs' SCM have not been studied yet. Therefore, by leveraging on four proxies: ICTs specialised human resources, knowledge sharing activities, buyer-supplier relationships, adoption of electronic markets this optimal was analysed via structural equation modelling based on a sample of 1254 SMEs operating in the service sector in Italy.},

abstract = {Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to address internationalisation of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by specifically focussing on collaborative entry modes. Despite significant research done on market entry and internationalisation strategies of firms, the use of collaborative entry modes by SMEs during internationalisation has not received a lot of attention. The authors contribute to foreign market entry studies by analysing the influences of cognitive dimensions on collaborative entry mode choice (equity vs non-equity modes) of SMEs in their international markets. Design/methodology/approach - The authors analyse the influences of cognitive dimensions on the choice between equity-based vs non-equity-based collaborative entry modes. The empirical sample consists of internationalisation strategies of 345 Italian SMEs, where the authors used a questionnaire to collect the data. The authors use structural equation modelling to analyse influences of factors like asymmetric information, informal institutional distance, time trends of country, perception of size and resources of potential host country partners, and perception of host country partners' power on this important market entry mode. Findings - The results show that high informal institutional distance leads to preference of non-equity-based collaborative entry mode by Italian SMEs. The authors also find that positive time trends of the host country, positive perception of size and resource of the local partner, as well as the local partners' power leads to preference of equity-based collaborative entry mode by Italian SMEs. Originality/value - This study focusses on an ignored aspect of market entry strategies, i.e., equity vs non-equity collaborative entry mode choice of SMEs. Given that much of the useful knowledge resides outside the enterprises' boundaries, these technological tools foster the gathering of big data and information. Despite these premises, few studies have considered the role of ICTs and big data in intra? and inter?organizational ties and the consequent effects on enterprises' innovation performance. The paper investigates whether ICTs oriented to intra?organizational (in?house research and development [R&D]) and inter?organizational (open innovation) processes improve SMEs' innovation performance. Therefore, via structural equation modelling (SEM), the study analyses a sample of 239 knowledgeintensive SMEs located in Italy. The noteworthy results are that ICTs oriented to intra? and inter?organizational innovation processes improve both these processes in generating new products and/or services. On this basis, managerial and academic implications are provided, along with avenues for further research.},

Customers become the new trailblazers. Thus, by adopting a customer led innovation perspective, this paper seeks to measure the effect on return on investment (ROI) of the use of SMNs as external drivers for supporting internal innovation search processes. On the basis of the extant literature on information systemand social network analysis, the research describes and evaluates the multidimensional activities interwoven into the open innovation process, driven by integrating the five constructs of structural dimension, relational behaviour, cognitive dimension, knowledge transfer, and legitimization into our hypothesised conceptual model. Empirical research was conducted via the Classification Regression Tree (CART) on a sample of 2548 SMEs belonging to the fashion industry and based in Italy and in the United Kingdom. This study is of importance to academics and practitioners due to the increasing significance taken on by the adoption of socialmedia networks in the fashion industry to improve innovation search. These beliefs nurture new entrepreneurs, mainly in family firms in which the sense of traditions and values fuels the business growth. This is then passed on to future generations through a cross-generational culture approach. Therefore, in line with this, the present research investigates the evolution of the cross-generational culture and its effects on the entrepreneurial mindset. Following Hofstede's model, the research analysed in depth a case study of a large family firm based in southern Italy. A threefold contribution is made to the literature: first, the relevance of the evolution of family firms' culture over the generations; secondly, the enhancement of the entrepreneurial mindset, converting the family business culture into the virtual reality; and, third, the improvement of Hofstede's model, offering an action research and a different point of view of culture - based on differences not of national cultures but of generational culture.},

abstract = {With the digital and technological transformation, firms tend to be more open to new collaborative innovation approaches. Customers are considered not just the final consumers of a product but innovation partners. Consumers exchange their ideas with firms using predominantly social media networks (SMNs). However regardless the boost of the use of SMNs to generate innovative ideas, the involvement of these digital tools in the open innovation (OI) model needs to be explored more. Few studies have already researched the benefits of the SMNs in the innovation process of manufacturing industry but nobody has quantitatively explored these benefits in the service one. Therefore, the research fulfils the gap in the literature, measuring the relationship between users' generated ideas and the OI model in the service industry. An empirical study has been conducted on a sample of 374 small to medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in the service industry in UK. Data were collected by administrating an online questionnaire and were analysed by structural equation modelling (SEM). Findings show an academic aftermath by acting as trailblazer for evaluating the effect of open innovation on competitiveness of SMEs.
